About Jakara Brangus

Jakara Brangus was established in 2002 with 1 bull purchased from Castle Brangus Euroa and 4 females from Elton Brangus Mendooran.

From their small beginning Ron & Penny Herrin have bred up to a successful stud, having now established a long line of breeding females which are joined to well known Australian and American bloodlines.

After selecting top bloodlines with our own breeding programme, success has followed winning Champion Ribbons with our females at Melbourne and Sydney Royal Shows and at Bendigo Beef Expo. The Males have not been left out, winning at Sydney and also at Bendigo.

Our stud is very pleased with ET Bull calves already on the ground and they are looking fantastic from the famous Brinks family. The sires of these calves are:

Unitas of Brinks 361R6
Blanda of Brinks 535R54
Griese of Brinks 803R27

Our next Embryos programme in December we will be implanting the balance of these Embryos and looking forward to another great drop of calves.

Ron has been in the animal health industry for 40 years working for Australian and international companies. During this time Ron has obtained a great deal of experience in both Veterinary and Rural fields. Ron purchased a beautiful piece of Victoria and with Penny by his side started to breed Brangus Cattle. In Queensland, there are many excellent Brangus Studs to select breeding cattle from, but in the valleys of Northeast Victoria cattle with Bos indicus blood are unusual. Ron and Penny run their Jakara Brangus stud in the midst of a British breed at Staghorn Flat near Wodonga Victoria.

After success in Black Brangus they have now started a Red Brangus stud with purchases from Redline and Bimbadeen Studs in Queensland.
